Jumpstart Your Career Journey!

To ensure every student begins their college journey with a strong career foundation, Florida House Bill 1261 requires all first-year students at state universities to complete early career planning activities.

At Florida A&M University, that starts with the Career Foundations Micro-Certificate, a short, impactful program designed for first-year success and beyond.

If this is your first semester enrolled at Florida A&M Universtiy, you are required to complete this requirement. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.

In less than 2 hours, you will:

  • Build one essential soft skill — like communication or AI literacy
  • Begin career exploration through guided video resources
  • Earn a digital certificate you can add to your resume or LinkedIn

This program is mandatory and must be completed by the first day of Spring or Fall registration.

How long does it take to complete?

The full program takes 1.5 to 2 hours total. It’s designed to be flexible and completed on the student’s own schedule — even in one sitting.

LinkedIn Learning is an online platform with professional development courses. FAMU students have free access through their university login. Instructions for access are provided in Canvas.

Students earn a Career Foundations Micro-Certificate they can add to their resume, LinkedIn profile, or ePortfolio. It’s a great way to show initiative and professionalism early in their college journey.
